This bridge and tunnel goes under water to allow movement of ships. In order for ships to pass, this bridge is half under the water. You drive down in the water and then come out on the other side. Truly a marvelous piece of engineering! This bridge is between Sweden and Denmark. Picture taken from the side of Sweden.

Well… ‘underwater bridge’ – you might as well call it a tunnel. Amazing – possibly, but not special.
And it is NOT located between Sweden and Denmark. The only bridge between these countries runs between Copenhagen and Malmo, and sure enough, there is both tunnel and bridge, but the picture is clearly not taken from the ‘Øresundsbron’

Not that impressive really… Hampton Roads , VA has had underwater bridge-tunnels for 30+ years. Right down the “street” is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel with TWO underwater spans 8 miles out to sea!
yeah, it’ll be awesome until a boat that’s too big and weighed down try to test its luck and run right over it, crushing the tunnel, probably sinking the boat, and killing everyone in the tunnel who was too far from the exit to get out.

A SUGGESTION= EXPAND YOUR UNDERWATER BRIDGE FOR BOTH SIDES TO EACH OF YOUR MOUNTAINS. OR http:www.inventube.com/ooojay/view_blog/113/ ato extract the sand from the ocean would be the same as lowering the ocean. but no one else on earth cares so i believe a expansion of your tunnel is better off for both countries, should you both wish to survive. as is all life on earth has up to 20 years left. goodluck. mike

Yeah, there’s a bridge just like this over/under the Chesapeake in midatlantic USA. It’s near here somewhere, Virginia I think, and I think it even goes under multiple times.

Absolutely the Hampton Roads tunnel. I’ve driven on this road for YEARS.
The Bridge is called “Öresundsbron” and is located between Malmö (Sweden) and Copenhagen (Denmark). Don’t argue that this is not right because I live there.

You all are not very bright, although Hampton Roads has many many bridge and tunnel complexs this is none of them, way to small to be the Bay Bridge tunnel and the M&M and HRBT have different style tunnel entrances

This bridge is the Chesapeake Bridge-Tunnel in Virginia, USA.
And whoever designed it would have definitely taken in consideration natural calamities, the sizes of the ships, the kind of traffic, etc. So relax, the bridge is safe and it’s taking a lot of traffic off the other really busy roads or the waterways!

its called the Monitor Merrimac Bridge Tunnel…its HWY664 connecting Newport News, VA and Suffolk, VA. Google Map it….matches perfectly, plus I live in this area and travel this bridge quite frequently.
