My Top 5 Movies for 2009

1.) Inglorious Bastards
My anticipation for this movie can be summed up by simply saying, Tarantino. He made Pulp Fiction.

2.) Friday the 13th
If there was ever a movie that deserved a remake/re-imaging it is Friday the 13th. Out of all the bile that is remade on a yearly basis, this is one movie that has the chance of becoming a new classic. For me, it all started with that bootleg teaser from Comic Con, I was pretty blown away out how good it actually looked.

3.) The Watchmen
I just finished reading The Watchmen about a month ago. For the most part I found it rather engaging… but I did struggle with parts of it, as it tended to drag on and on. The movie the on the other hand looks superb in every aspect… casting, acting, graphics, and music. I’m a pretty big fan of 300, so I’ve got faith that Zack Snyder won’t let the Watchmen purists down.

4.) The Road
I’m really looking forward to this movie, and truthfully I don’t know much about it yet. I just started reading the book a few days ago… but I find myself drawn to it for the simple reason that it’s by the same guy (Cormac McCarthy) who wrote No Country for Old Men, easily one of the best movies of last year. Also, the movie stars Viggo Mortensen who is one of the greatest actors currently in the game.

5.) Avatar
I was a bit hesitant to include this on my list. On one hand James Cameron is the guy who directed The Terminator, Aliens, and Terminator 2, but on the other hand he also directed Titanic. I’m concerned which Cameron will step behind the lenses for Avatar, and if he’s still got it… I mean it’s been 12 years since he directed a movie.

So those are my top 5, don’t agree with them… leave a comment with your 5.
